Active sessions and signed-in devices

The device list shows where you are signed in. There you sign a device out remotely.

What is it for?

Every login to Illumentis is a session. The device list shows you all sessions that are active right now: the browser or device, when you signed in and when the session was last used. This helps you spot a device you do not recognize, or a computer where you did not sign out.

It works like the list of spare keys to your apartment. If you see an unknown entry, you take that key back right away. Signing out remotely ends the session, and the affected device deletes its locally stored data the next time it contacts Illumentis.

Illumentis helps on its own: if a session is suddenly used from a different browser or device, Illumentis ends it automatically and notifies you.

How it works

  1. Open the account settings and choose the “Account & Security” section.

What you see afterwards: The “Signed-in devices” section lists all active sessions.

  2. Check the entries: device or “Unknown device”, “Signed in since” and “last active”.

What you see afterwards: Your current session carries the “This session” marker.

  3. For a device you do not recognize or no longer need, choose “Sign out”.

What you see afterwards: The device disappears from the list.

  4. Was it not you? Change your password afterwards.

What you see afterwards: All other sessions end, and the list shows only your current device.

Who can do this?

Every signed-in user sees and ends the sessions of their own account. Other accounts cannot be reached.

Your data

For each session, Illumentis stores a short identifier for the device, the time of sign-in, the last use and the address of the connection. The list shows you the device, the sign-in and usage times, but no content of your books.

Limits

You cannot sign out the session you are currently in from the list; for that, use the regular sign-out button. When you sign out remotely, the other device deletes its local data, including changes that had not been synced yet. Synced content stays in the account.

Frequently asked questions

Why was my session ended automatically?

If a session is suddenly used from a different browser or device, Illumentis ends it and sends you the notification “One of your active sessions was automatically ended”. If that was not you, change your password and check the device list.

Do I lose my texts when I sign out remotely?

Texts that Illumentis has already synced stay in your account. On the device you signed out, only local changes that had not been synced are lost. So end sessions of your own devices only after you have synced there.

What does the message “This session was revoked.” mean?

The message appears on the sign-in page if someone signed out this device’s session in the device list, or a password change ended it. Just sign in again.
