Author forum

Available Free Last reviewed: 24 Oct 2026

The forum sorts discussions into categories and shows you the threads by language and activity.

What is it for?

The author forum is the place for discussions with other authors. The start page shows a table of categories with the columns “Category”, “Threads”, “Posts” and “Latest post”. Subcategories are listed under their parent category. A sidebar on the right shows “Members online”, “Trending” and “Latest posts”, and you can show or hide it.

With the “Language board” selection you filter the categories to one language, or you show everything with “All boards”. Illumentis saves your selection in your account and suggests it again on your next visit. Categories in which only the moderation team may write carry the label “Read-only”.

A click on a category shows its threads with title, replies and last activity. You sort by “Latest activity”, “Newest threads” or “Most replies”. With “+ New thread” you start a thread of your own, if you may write in that category.

How it works

  1. In the main menu, open “Community” and choose “Forum”.

What you see afterwards: The category overview appears.

  2. If you like, choose a “Language board” at the top.

What you see afterwards: The table only shows categories of that language, plus those that are not tied to a language.

  3. Choose a category and sort the thread list with “Sort by”.

What you see afterwards: The threads appear in the chosen order, 20 per page.

  4. Open a thread, or choose “+ New thread” if the button appears.

What you see afterwards: You read the thread or create a new one.

Who can do this?

The forum is open to active accounts with author rights. You start a new thread in categories with the write permission “All author accounts”; in “Moderators only” categories, the moderation team writes. Anyone who is excluded from the community because of a sanction cannot start new threads.

Your data

Your preferred language board is saved. The “Members online” display counts accounts from the last ten minutes and shows “< 5” instead of the exact number if there are fewer than five, so that nobody can be identified.

Limits

Illumentis shows 20 threads per page. “Trending” lists at most 5 threads with the most posts in the last 48 hours, “Latest posts” at most 10. Only the moderation team can create categories and lock or pin threads. There is no search in the forum.

Frequently asked questions

What does “Read-only” mean?

In this category, only the moderation team writes. You can read, but you cannot start a thread.

Why do I still see some categories despite the language board?

Categories without a language assignment count as not tied to a language and stay visible.

Why does “Members online” show “< 5”?

If fewer than five accounts are online, Illumentis does not show an exact number, so that nobody can be identified.
