Incomplete entries

Available Free Last reviewed: 24 Oct 2026

A single list shows entries that are still empty or lack details the engine needs.

What is it for?

While writing, you quickly create a location or a character with only a name, because you do not want to interrupt your sentence. That is intended. So that such entries are not forgotten, Illumentis collects them in a list: “Incomplete entries”. There you see what is still missing, and you jump straight to the entry with a link.

The list is grouped by locations, factions and characters, each group with a counter. An entry is on the list if only its name exists so far. For locations and characters, it also appears if a detail is missing that the Illuminatio Engine needs for its checks: the map pin for a location, the birth in world time for a character.

As soon as you have filled in an entry, it disappears from the list. The list does not change your data; it only shows where gaps remain.

How it works

  1. In the tools group, open “Incomplete entries”, or follow the notice in the worldbuilding overview or the character overview.

What you see afterwards: The heading gives the number of entries, and below it are the groups “Locations”, “Factions” and “Characters”.

  2. In a group, choose an entry and then “Fill in”.

What you see afterwards: The detail view of the entry opens. If details are missing, “Missing for the engine:” lists the fields.

  3. Add the details and save.

What you see afterwards: The entry disappears from the list as soon as nothing is missing.

Who can do this?

Owners and co-authors see the list. Co-authors only see entries from the books assigned to them.

Your data

The list only reads existing entries and stores nothing. It shows the locations, factions and characters of the project that you have access to.

Limits

Only locations, factions and characters are taken into account. Rules, world history, calendars and languages are not on the list. For factions, only “name only” counts; for locations and characters, the missing engine details count as well.

Frequently asked questions

Why is a location on the list although it is filled in?

It lacks a detail that the engine needs, for example a map pin. “Missing for the engine:” says which one.

Why is a character on the list although it has descriptions?

The birth in world time may be missing. Without it, the engine cannot check the character’s age.
