Contribution record and contributors

Available Free Last reviewed: 24 Oct 2026

The contribution record is your personal summary, and the contributors list shows everyone who took part in the book.

What is it for?

Two views keep shared work transparent. “My contribution proof” is your personal summary in the project: the period of your involvement, the number of chapters you edited and your estimated word contribution. The “Contributors” list in the book shows who first contributed to it, and when.

The record contains only numbers and timestamps, with no chapter titles and no body text. Chapters appear by their position in the book. The word contribution counts the net difference per saved version, not the total word count at every save, and it is an estimate, not a legal proof.

The record also lists worldbuilding contributions, such as characters or locations you created. They are for information only and do not count toward the word contribution. You download the record as a text file.

How it works

  1. In “Co-authors”, open the link “View my contribution proof”.

What you see afterwards: The “My contribution proof” page opens.

  2. Check “Contribution period”, “Chapters edited” and “Estimated word contribution”.

What you see afterwards: Each chapter has a row with book, chapter number, words and last edit.

  3. If you like, choose “Download as text file”.

What you see afterwards: The record is saved as a .txt file.

  4. In the book, open the “Contributors” section under “Publication”.

What you see afterwards: The list shows the date of first contribution for each account.

Who can do this?

You see your own record as an owner or as an active or blocked co-author. Anyone who has left the project or has been permanently removed no longer has a record on this page. Owners and co-authors with access to the book see the contributors list.

Your data

The record contains numbers and timestamps, no texts and no chapter titles. A public short overview appears only if you release it in the privacy settings and your profile is not private.

Limits

The word contribution is an estimate and not a legal proof. Worldbuilding contributions do not count toward the word contribution. The contributors list shows lasting historical facts, regardless of whether the person still has editing rights today.

Frequently asked questions

How does Illumentis calculate the word contribution?

From the net difference per saved version, formed over the whole project and then filtered to you and the period. This way, a change in the middle of other people’s edits is counted correctly.

Does text from my chapters appear in the record?

No. The record contains only numbers and timestamps, with no chapter titles and no body text.

What does the contributors list show?

For each account, the date of first contribution to the book. The entries remain, even if the person no longer has editing rights.
