Export history

Available Free Last reviewed: 24 Oct 2026

The export history shows who exported what and when, and offers finished files for download.

What is it for?

The export history lists all exports of a project: manuscript, EPUB 3, Normseite (standard manuscript page), story bible and JSON backup. Each entry shows the type, the person who triggered it, the time and the status. When an export is finished, there is a “Download” link.

For JSON backups, the entry says whether they contain the whole project or only the assigned books. If a backup comes with a media bundle, a second link “Download media bundle” is available. For a failed export, the entry gives the reason.

The history serves transparency between the participants. It contains metadata and not the exported text. Illumentis cleans up older export files after a retention period. So export again when needed, instead of relying on an old file.

How it works

  1. Open “Export & Import” and choose “Export log”.

What you see afterwards: The list shows the exports of the project. If there are none, it says “No exports yet.”

  2. Check entries and status: “Generating …”, finished or “Export failed.”

What you see afterwards: Finished exports carry a download link.

  3. Download finished files with “Download”.

What you see afterwards: The file is saved.

Who can do this?

Owners and co-authors see the export history. Guests do not see it, and neither do editorial guests. People with export rights for the respective book or project can download.

Your data

The history contains metadata such as type, person, time, status and scope, no text. The entries are visible to all co-authors. Files are kept only for a limited time.

Limits

A co-author restricted to certain books downloads only exports of the books assigned to them. The history shows metadata, not the exported text.

Frequently asked questions

Do other co-authors see my exports?

Yes. The history serves transparency between the participants and shows who exported what and when. It does not contain the text itself.

What does “Assigned books only” mean for a backup?

The backup comes from a co-author restricted to certain books and contains only their assigned books, not the whole project.

Why is an old export file gone?

Illumentis cleans up export files after a retention period. Create the export again when needed.
