Who can do this?
You get the confirmation link when you registered through the “Register” tab. The tab exists only if the operator has enabled self-registration. If you already have an account, you receive a notice email instead of the link.
Confirming your email address
After registering, you confirm your email address through a link and set your password at the same time.
What is it for?
When you register, you provide only your email address. You do not set a password there yet. Instead, Illumentis sends you a confirmation link.
Only with this link do you set your password and activate your account. This shows that the mailbox really belongs to you. Without access to the mailbox, the account cannot be activated. The link is valid for 14 days and works only once. If it expires, you simply register again.
Think of a house key that arrives by post. Only someone who can open the mailbox also gets into the house.

How it works

In your mailbox, open the email “Confirm your registration - Illumentis”.
What you see afterwards: a link and the date until which it is valid.

Click the link in the email.
What you see afterwards: a page with your address and the sentence “set your password to activate your account.”

Under “New password”, enter a password with at least 8 characters.
What you see afterwards: The “Activate account” button is ready.

Click “Activate account”.
What you see afterwards: You land on the sign-in page.

Sign in with your address and the new password.
What you see afterwards: the start page with the notice “Tip: set up a recovery key so you can recover your account yourself even if you lose your password and two-factor device.”
Your data
After you submit, the page shows the same message for all addresses. This way it does not reveal whether an address is already registered. If you do not confirm your account, Illumentis anonymizes your stored address about 14 days after registration.
Limits
The link is valid for 14 days and works only once. After that, “This invite has expired.” or “This invite has already been used.” appears. There is no button for sending it again for you – you simply register again.
