Worldbuilding: systems and knowledge

Rules, knowledge and collections for your world: magic and technology rules, invented languages, glossary, artifacts, world history, tags and a research board.

  • Magic and technology rules

A rule describes what is possible in your world and what the Illuminatio Engine measures scenes against.

  • Languages and conlang

Under “Languages” you maintain constructed languages with words, grammar notes and phonetic patterns.

  • Glossary and term detection

In the glossary you keep the terms of your world, and Illumentis suggests recurring words from your texts.

  • Artifacts and relics

Artifacts have a status and an ownership history that shows who owned them and when.

  • Custom fields

Custom fields add details that Illumentis does not provide, for example a favorite dish, to your profiles.

  • Incomplete entries

A single list shows entries that are still empty or lack details the engine needs.

  • Lore easter egg network

Easter eggs are small worldbuilding details that you share with others and adopt from others into your project.

  • Project modules and settings

In the project settings you switch modules on, set the world type and control chapter claiming.

  • Research board

In the research collection you gather notes, links and images for your project, private or for the team.

  • Tags and tag hierarchy

With tags you organize characters, locations, chapters and scenes across the chapter structure, nested in levels if you like.

  • World history and chronicle

Under “World history” you collect the events of your world on a shared timeline.

  • Worldbuilding jam

In the worldbuilding jam you submit an existing location for a given theme and see the gallery.
