A duel is a turn-based card game: you find an opponent, plan in secret and attack.
Beta phase note: The card game is not set up in the beta.
A duel has two parts: the opponent search in the “Duel” tab and the match on its own page, with “Back to card game” as the way back. You need a deck with exactly the intended number of cards; without one, the page points you to the “Decks” tab. The search compares the decks’ power weight; the allowed difference grows with waiting time.
Under “Choose deck” you pick your deck and join with “Join queue”. Optionally, under “Direct challenge (optional)”, enter a person by Name#Tag. During the search the page shows “Looking for an opponent…”; “Leave queue” cancels. With a running duel, the page offers “Resume match”.
A match runs in rounds. Once per match you can discard hand cards with “Perform mulligan” and draw the same number again. In the board development phase, under “Board development: play cards”, you play cards face down with your coffee finishing with “Submit board development”. In the attack phase, under “Declare attacks”, you first choose one of your characters and then a target or “Attack the author”, finishing with “Submit attack declaration”. With “Concede”, the other side wins immediately.
In the “Duel” tab, open your deck under “Choose deck”.
What you see afterwards: The deck is selected.
Optionally enter a person by Name#Tag under “Direct challenge (optional)”, and choose “Join queue”.
What you see afterwards: “Looking for an opponent…” appears, or the match starts immediately.
In the match, choose “Perform mulligan” if you like, then plan under “Board development: play cards” and choose “Submit board development”.
What you see afterwards: You see “You have already submitted this round. Waiting for your opponent.”
In the attack phase, choose one of your characters and a target, then “Submit attack declaration”.
What you see afterwards: The server evaluates the round; the next round begins or the match ends with “You won!” or “You lost.”

Illumentis stores the match with the participants’ moves and the result. For the match, Illumentis records the state of your deck. The server checks the rules; your browser only sends your actions, not the game state.
At the moment, Illumentis does not carry out the card texts of individual cards, such as effects when a card is played, buffs or healing. The mechanical rules apply, such as coffee costs, attacks and damage. You only see your opponent’s move when the page updates; it reloads every few seconds. An invalid move is rejected as a whole.
Yes. To find an opponent, the deck needs exactly the deck size. You see the number in the “Decks” tab.
Enter their display name#Tag under “Direct challenge (optional)”. The challenge works if the person is also waiting in the queue or has entered you.
Once per match.
Not at the moment. Illumentis evaluates the mechanical rules; card texts with special effects are not carried out yet.
