Signing in, registering and invitations

Available Free Last reviewed: 24 Oct 2026

You sign in with email and password. An invitation link activates your account, and registration works through it too.

What is it for?

The sign-in page is your entrance to Illumentis. There you sign in with your email address and password. If you have turned on two-factor authentication, a second step with a code follows.

A new account is created through an invitation. You receive an email with a personal link and set your password through it. By default, this is the only way. If the operator enables self-registration, a “Register” tab appears in addition, and you have the link sent to yourself.

What you do depends on whether you already have an account: with an account you sign in, without one you first need an invitation.

The sign-in page deliberately does not say whether the email address or the password was wrong. This way nobody can try out addresses to find out who uses Illumentis.

How it works

  1. Open the sign-in page and enter your email address and your password.

What you see afterwards: With “Show password” you reveal the password, and with “Hide password” you hide it again.

  2. If you like, tick “Stay signed in offline on this device”.

What you see afterwards: The sign-in then stays active on this device for up to 30 days.

  3. Choose “Log in”.

What you see afterwards: You land on the page you wanted to open before, otherwise on the start page.

  4. If you have turned on two-factor authentication, enter the code from your authenticator app.

What you see afterwards: The “Verification code” field accepts six digits or a backup code.

  5. Invited? Open the link from the email, set a password and choose “Activate account”.

What you see afterwards: You land on the sign-in page and log in with the new password.

Who can do this?

Everyone with an active account can sign in. You get an account by invitation, for example from the platform administration or from a project owner. The “Register” tab exists only if the operator has enabled self-registration.

Your data

The “Stay signed in offline on this device” checkbox sets a cookie that is valid for 30 days. Do not tick it on shared devices. After you submit the registration, the page shows the same message “Check your inbox” for all addresses.

Limits

A regular session is valid for 48 hours. For registration, at most 5 attempts per hour are possible per device address. The verification code has a brake: after 5 attempts in 5 minutes, you have to wait. The invitation link is valid for 14 days and can be used only once.

Frequently asked questions

The “Register” tab is missing. What now?

Then self-registration is not enabled. That is the default. You need an invitation from the platform administration or from a project owner.

Why does the page show “Check your inbox” although I get no email?

The page answers everyone the same way so that nobody can find out whether an address is already known or blocked. Check your spam folder and the spelling. If the address is on the block list, no email is sent.

The invitation link no longer works. What do I do?

After 14 days or after it has been used once, the page shows “This invite has expired.” or “This invite has already been used.”. Ask the person who invited you for a new invitation.
