Network: follow, friends, block

Available Free Last reviewed: 24 Oct 2026

Following, friendship and blocking control who may write to you and who may not.

What is it for?

There are three kinds of relationships between authors: following, friendship and blocking. Following and friendship help decide who may write to you without a request, depending on what you chose in the direct message settings. Blocking ends unwanted contact.

The actions appear on profile pages and above a conversation in direct messages. In the name menu, which opens when you click a name in the forum, in clubs or in conversations, you find “Send message”, “View profile”, “Follow”, “Send friend request”, “Copy Name#Tag” and “Report”. “Block” is not offered there, but on the profile and above the conversation.

You answer incoming friend requests in the messages overview with “Accept” or “Decline”. There is no list of your own followers or friends.

How it works

  1. Open a profile or click a name.

What you see afterwards: The actions for that person appear.

  2. Choose “Follow” or “Send friend request”.

What you see afterwards: “Friend request sent.” appears; after following, the button shows “Unfollow”.

  3. Answer incoming requests in the messages overview under “Friend requests” with “Accept” or “Decline”.

What you see afterwards: The request disappears from “Incoming”; if you accept, you are friends.

  4. On a profile, choose “Block” and confirm the prompt.

What you see afterwards: “Blocked.” The profile shows “Blocked” and “Unblock”.

Who can do this?

Following, friendship and blocking are open to active accounts with author rights. Anyone who is excluded from the community because of a sanction cannot follow anew or send friend requests; unfollowing, declining and ending a friendship remain possible. You can neither follow nor block yourself.

Your data

The relationships between accounts are stored. When someone is blocked, Illumentis shows the same general error message in both directions, so it cannot be seen who blocked whom. Your data access includes your follow, friendship and block lists.

Limits

Blocking immediately ends existing following in both directions and an existing friendship. After that, the blocked person can no longer write to you, follow you or send a request; new following or a new request is also not possible in the opposite direction. “Invite to card duel” appears in the name menu with the note “Coming soon” and cannot be selected.
