With writing buddies you stay committed: an equal partner, one check-in per week.
Writing buddies are two authors who motivate each other reliably and without hierarchy. The tool is a weekly check-in against writer’s block. Each person can have exactly one active partnership. You open the page through “Writing Buddies” in the community overview.
Without a partnership, the page shows an “Open requests” list and a form for a request of your own. With “Become writing buddies” you accept someone else’s request, and the partnership begins right away. With a partnership, you see “Your active partnership” with the check-ins.
The check-in is an update you enter yourself. Illumentis does not compare your actual word counts with the goal, and the weekday in the request is a wish that the page does not enforce. A partnership ends with “End partnership”.
In the community overview, open “Writing Buddies”.
What you see afterwards: The page with “Open requests” and the form appears.
Enter a genre, “Target words per week” and a weekday for the check-in, and choose “Post request”.
What you see afterwards: Your request is listed until someone accepts it.
Or choose “Become writing buddies” on a request that suits you.

Write a “Short update (optional)” and choose “Check in”.
What you see afterwards: The check-in appears with the date of the week. Without an entry, it says “No check-in yet this week.”
