Who can do this?
Every signed-in user downloads their own data access export and deletes their own account. An export that an administrator with the “legal” role created on your behalf is something you pick up yourself, once.

You download your account data as a file or delete your account, both yourself in the account settings.
Your data belongs to you. That is why you can find out what Illumentis has stored about you, and you can delete your account again. You do both yourself in the “Data & Privacy” section of the account settings.
You download the data access export as a file to your device so that you can read it in peace. It contains your personal account data, for example profile, direct messages, support tickets, forum posts and sessions. It does not contain the contents of your projects, that is, chapters and worldbuilding. You export those per project in the export area.
When you delete your account, Illumentis removes your sign-in data and moves your own projects to the trash. This is final, so think it over and export beforehand what you want to keep.
Open the account settings and choose the “Data & Privacy” section.
What you see afterwards: The sections for the data access export, the “GPG export encryption” and “Delete account” appear.
Choose “Download data export”.
What you see afterwards: Your browser saves a JSON file whose name starts with illumentis-datenauskunft and carries today’s date.
If a data access export has been prepared for you, choose “Pick up admin export”.
What you see afterwards: The file downloads once. If nothing is ready, Illumentis tells you.
Optional: Under “GPG export encryption”, paste your public OpenPGP key and choose “Save key”.
What you see afterwards: “Key saved.” and the fingerprint of the key appear.
To delete, choose “Delete account …”, confirm with your password or code, read the consequences, tick the checkbox and choose “Permanently delete account”.
What you see afterwards: The sign-in page confirms: “Your account has been deleted.”

The data access export contains your account data, including the legal data, but no chapters and no worldbuilding. When you delete your account, Illumentis replaces your email address and removes your display name and Name#Tag. If a legal retention period applies, for example for a report or a support ticket, this is delayed.
Deletion cannot be undone. Afterwards you can no longer sign in. At most 5 deletion attempts per hour are possible. You can store a GPG key freely. Encrypted exports, however, require an active studio subscription of the project owner; a trial period is not enough. You open encrypted exports only with your private key. If it is lost, the file is lost, and even an admin reset does not help.
All your own projects move to the trash immediately, with 30 days of retention, and are permanently deleted afterwards. Your contribution to other people’s projects as a co-author remains there as a fact.
No. The sign-in page then reports “Invalid credentials.”. So export beforehand what you want to keep.
It is an additional protection for JSON backup exports. Storing the key is voluntary, and encrypted exports need an active studio subscription of the project owner. A new upload replaces the previous key; with “Remove key” you delete it.
