Owners and co-authors with write access to the chapter create questions, delete them and see the results. Guests with comment permissions on the chapter can answer.
Chapter questionnaire for beta readers
With a chapter questionnaire you collect targeted feedback from beta readers.
What is it for?
For each chapter you can create questions for beta readers, for example whether a twist was surprising. Every question has between two and five answer options. Up to three questions are possible per chapter.
Beta readers see the questions in their guest view of the chapter and either choose an option or skip the question. Each person has one vote per question; anyone who answers again replaces the earlier answer.
Under “Survey Results” you see, for each question, how many answers have come in and how they are spread across the options. Without a share for the book, beta readers cannot answer. The result helps you revise in a targeted way, but it does not replace talking to your readers.
How it works

In the chapter list, open the “Beta Reader Survey” for the chapter you want.
What you see afterwards: The page shows existing questions or “No surveys for this chapter yet.”

Enter a question and add 2 to 5 answer options with “+ Answer option”.
What you see afterwards: The question and options are in the form.

Add up to three questions with “+ Another question” and choose “Save”.
What you see afterwards: The questions are visible to beta readers.

Later, look at the answers under “Survey Results”.
What you see afterwards: For each question you see the number of answers and the distribution.
Your data
Questions, options and answers belong to the project and are backed up with it. The results show you the number of answers per option.
Limits
At most 3 questions are possible per chapter, with 2 to 5 options each. A question has at most 500 characters, an option at most 255. Each person gives one answer per question. With fewer than 2 or more than 5 options, the page reports an error.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t my beta readers answer?
They need a share for the book with comment permissions. Without that share, they do not see the questions.
Can I delete a questionnaire?
Yes, with “Delete”. Questions you no longer need can be removed.
Can I see who answered what?
The results show the number of answers per option, not the individual people.
