Mentoring program

Available Free Last reviewed: 24 Oct 2026

Experienced authors offer themselves as mentors, and new authors choose a mentor.

What is it for?

Authors with a published book can offer themselves as mentors. Anyone looking for support picks an offer in the “Available mentors” list with “Choose as mentor”. You reach the “Mentorship Program” page through “Mentorship” in the community overview. At the top it shows your active mentorship, followed by the rating sections, your own offer and the list.

A mentorship does not grant access to projects. For real access to a manuscript, a normal share is still needed. As a mentee, you rate your mentor from 1 to 5 and can add detailed feedback. Only the mentor sees this feedback unless they publish it; your identity stays hidden even then.

Mentors see the ratings they receive as “Not published” or “Published by you”, publish them with “Publish”, or raise a reason with “Raise a dispute”, which an admin reviews by hand. Either side can end the mentorship with “End mentorship”.

How it works

  1. In the community overview, open “Mentorship”.

What you see afterwards: The “Mentorship Program” page appears.

  2. As a mentee, choose “Choose as mentor” on an offer in “Available mentors”.

What you see afterwards: The box “Your active mentorship” names the mentor and the mentee.

  3. As a mentor, under “Offer yourself as a mentor”, optionally enter a genre and a description, then choose “Post offer”.

What you see afterwards: Your offer appears under “Your mentor offer”.

  4. As a mentee, under “Rate your mentor”, give a score and choose “Submit rating”.

What you see afterwards: The rating is saved; the mentor sees it under “Ratings received”.

Who can do this?

The program is open to active accounts with author rights. You can post an offer if you hold the “Book Published” badge, meaning at least one book of your own with the status “Final”. Only the mentee can rate; only the mentor can publish and raise a dispute. Each account can have only one active mentorship as a mentee; a mentor can have several mentees.

Your data

The offer, the mentorship and the ratings are stored. Detailed feedback stays visible to the mentor and becomes public only if the mentor publishes it; the mentee’s identity stays hidden in that case. A rating can only be submitted once every 28 days per mentorship.

Limits

The genre can have at most 50 characters, the description at most 2,000. Feedback has at most 2,000 characters, a dispute at most 5,000. You cannot choose your own offer as a mentor, and you can only choose one while you have no active mentorship. Mentors can pause their offer with “Close to new mentees”.
