Who can do this?
Authors with forum access write posts and react. If forum access is blocked, the function is not available. You cannot react to your own post.
Daily prompt
The daily prompt gives you a short writing prompt every day, separate from your manuscript.
What is it for?
Every day there is one prompt for everyone: a micro writing prompt of about 15 minutes against writer’s block, independent of your main manuscript. You write a short text for it and can post it in the warm-up feed.
In the warm-up feed you see the posts of other authors for the same prompt and react with a fixed selection of emoji reactions. You cannot react to your own post. If you like, you post anonymously and then appear as “Anonymous”.
The prompts come from a fixed collection, not from your manuscript. Posts are visible to other Illumentis authors unless you post them anonymously. A text from here does not move into your manuscript on its own.
How it works
-
Under “Inspiration”, open the “Daily Prompt” and read the prompt.
What you see afterwards: The prompt of the day appears with a text field.
-
Start writing in the “Your short text...” field.
What you see afterwards: Your text is in the field.
-
If you like, tick “Post anonymously”.
What you see afterwards: Your post will appear as “Anonymous”.
-
Choose “Post”.
What you see afterwards: Your post appears in the “Warm-up feed”.
Your data
Your post lives in the forum area, separate from your projects, and is readable by other authors. With “Post anonymously”, the feed shows “Anonymous” instead of your name.
Limits
A short text has at most 2,000 characters. The daily prompt is the same for everyone and changes daily. One reaction counts per post and account: a second click on the same emoji takes it back, a different emoji replaces it.
Frequently asked questions
Who writes the prompts?
They come from a fixed collection. The first access of a day sets the prompt of the day, and everyone gets the same one.
Can I react to my own post?
No. Illumentis rejects that. You react to the posts of others with an emoji; a second click on the same emoji takes the reaction back.
What happens to my post if I post anonymously?
The feed shows “Anonymous” instead of your name. The post itself stays readable for others.
