Relationship graph over time

Available Vastitas Last reviewed: 24 Oct 2026

A slider across the chapters shows the state of relationships at every point in your story.

What is it for?

Relationships change: friends become enemies, an alliance breaks apart. The time relationship graph makes this development visible. It shows a network of characters and factions and a slider that you drag across the chapters of your book.

As you drag, the graph shows relationships and memberships as they stood at that chapter. What only begins later is not there yet, and what has already ended is gone. That way you can check at a glance whether the development fits your plan.

The graph is only as meaningful as your entries: relationships and memberships need a time entry saying since when they apply. The view belongs to the Vastitas studio, so it is one of the Pro features.

How it works

  1. Open your book and choose “Time Relationship Graph” among the tools.

What you see afterwards: The “4D Relationship Graph” page first shows the current state.

  2. Drag the “Point in time” slider across the chapters.

What you see afterwards: The name of the chosen chapter appears on the slider label.

  3. Wait a moment until the graph reports “Updating graph …” and finishes.

What you see afterwards: The graph shows relationships as they stood at that chapter.

Who can do this?

The view requires an active Vastitas studio of the project owner. A trial period is not enough. Whoever may view the book sees the graph only for the time range they are allowed to view.

Your data

The graph only displays what you have recorded for relationships and memberships. It does not save anything new and does not change anything.

Limits

The time axis follows the chapter structure of the book. If there is no chapter in the permitted time range, a notice appears and the graph shows the current state. Without “Since when” entries on relationships, the development is not meaningful.

Frequently asked questions

Why can’t I see the time relationship graph?

It requires an active Vastitas studio of the project owner. Without an active subscription, even during a trial period, Illumentis denies access to the view.

Why does the graph only show the current state?

Your book has no chapter in the permitted time range. A notice appears then, and the graph shows the current state.
